The Lab

dl380p generation 8 server

V1910-48G managed switch

Hardware

Hewlett Packard Enterprise equipment was chosen in order to gain hands-on experience with enterprise hardware in a forgiving environment. The server runs Proxmox as a hypervisor, has three 1GbE ports link-aggregated with the switch, and runs multiple containerised roles alongside a ZFS file server.

Short term goals

The next planned project is to set up a virtual Kubernetes cluster. A number of virtual machines will run containters which will be deployed and managed by Kubernetes rather than individually by the operator. Containerised roles such as game servers will be migrated to the cluster.

Long term goals

Additional hardware nodes will be added to the cluster. These will be low power/high efficiency nodes which will allow energy saving by offloading low cost roles from the lower efficiency gen 8 server.

About Joel

A paragraph about Joel. I hate doing these. Joel has been working with computers as enthusiast and professional since 1985. IT things.

Also mention diversity, communication, project management, useful CV things.
